James Guentner

James Guentner has been painting in oils since the age of ten, began selling his work by age eleven and teaching at age thirteen. He received an Associates Degree from Community College and a Bachelor of Arts from Carlow University; becoming the first male graduate in the history of Carlow. Later he continued with self study; teaching at the Pittsburgh City Schools, North Hills and Shaler School Districts as a substitute art teacher. For over twenty-five years he has shown at the Carnegie Museum, Pittsburgh Center for the Arts, Three Rivers Arts Festival, Butler Institute of American Art, Dunformline in Scotland for the Associated Artists of Pittsburgh, and various galleries throughout the Pittsburgh Area.
His background also consists of commissioned work for individuals and corporations including murals and paintings. Collectors include Westinghouse Corp and Star Kist Tuna Company, Duquesne Light Corp., Consolidated Natural Gas, University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Business, John Rueiz owner of Greer Coal and Limestone, Carlow University, the Gage Company, Presbyterian Hospital, St Bonaventure Parish, and the Greater Latrobe School District.
James is listed in the 2003-2004 edition of Marquis Who's Who in America. He has been represented by Marcus-Gordon Gallery, Style and Substance Gallery, Concept Art Gallery, Borelli-Edwards Gallery, Moxie Da Da Gallery, Blackwell Gallery and BoxHeart Gallery. Current Exhibitors are Christine Frechard Gallery, Fein Art Gallery and Studio Raw. His work represents all that he views as a spiritual feeling within. His paintings are more than a picture, they are an experience.
