Edwin Carl Caulley

Edwin has been painting all of his life beginning in Middle School. he studied oil painting at the New York Academy of Fine Arts in the 1970's under Raymond Brenin who had been a student of Chegal. Edwin has paintings spanning the globe in over sixteen countries including Russia and China. Edwin frequently exhibits in various New York City art galleries, Pictor Gallery, Blue Mountain Gallery and others along with World Fine Art group.
What media and genres do you work in?
I work mostly in oil paints but on occasion will create pieces using graphite pencil.
Who or what are your influences?
My influences are tropical landscapes and beaches, sunsets and the ocean as well as the human figure which was my specific area of professional study. My most influential artist is Steven Daluz.
What was your inspiration for
Paradise
?My inspiration for the cover piece was can I make the subject of imagination as real as possible.
Describe your creative process?
My creative process is quite simple. I simply imagine the finish concept in my head, then roughly crate the foundation using paint and brush and then build on it little by little working with light and shadows.
What are you working on currently?
Currently I am working on a seascape, a cottage and a pier, a place of R&R.
What are your near/long term goals as an artist?
My near term goals are to experiment more with my style, My long term goal is to always remain busy painting focusing more on quality and not quantity.
