Sweet ‘Art has a cosy new home after 12 years of success as an arts organisation giving opportunity to hundreds of artists that may be marginalised in the art world. The Art Bypass Gallery’s latest incarnation is in London E8 and we are now again hosting the Sweet Art Award! In honour of our overarching mission and values we will be holding an open entry award for any artist exploring any medium, theme or concept in their art practice. The panel will be particularly interested in artists that display both artistic merit and interest in challenging themselves to progress in their career and explore the fulness of their chosen media. We would love to see artists that are able to site their artwork within wider contexts (whether that is socially, politically or within art historical discourse). The winner selected by our panel (that will include established artists, the Sweet Art team and our last award winner Carys Reilly), will be given the opportunity to exhibit a 2 week solo exhibition in the Art Bypass Gallery. The exhibition will be fully curated, promoted and invigilated by appointment by the Sweet ‘Art team, along with our hosting of an opening private view to remember! The winner of the award will also be offered a portfolio review by the Sweet ‘Art team, and a blog post documenting their practice. The winners art works, selected for exhibition following an in person or online studio visit or portfolio review, will need to be available between Feb 25 & March 15 2025.
