Where: Arts Letters & Numbers Campus, 1543 Burden Lake Road, Averill Park, NY 12018, USA. When: July 5–26, 2025. About Program: Drawing 101 will be taught by David Gersten, Founding Director of Arts Letters & Numbers and longtime Professor of Architecture at The Cooper Union. The course begins with the fundamentals of drafting—exploring the relationship between paper, tools, and technique. Through guided questions, participants will discover the rhythm, tempo, and space of drawing, learning to use these tools like instruments. Rather than drawing to ‘show,’ participants will draw to ‘see’—building toward large, immersive works that allow them to inhabit the space of their drawings. About Program Director: David Gersten is an architect, artist, and educator based in NYC. He is Distinguished Professor at The Cooper Union and Founding Director of Arts Letters & Numbers. His work spans disciplines and includes collaborations with UNICEF, the UN, Big Picture Learning, and Education Reimagined. He recently presented at the UNICEF–EXPO and Venice Biennale, where he directed ALN’s exhibit “SunShip.” He serves on the Board of Big Picture Learning. Link: see "Prospectus" link below.
